  1. Considering their place in hip-hop history, De La Soul have had a rough ride. The Long Island trio's debut album, 3 Feet High & Rising, single-handedly did more to popularise rap music outside the genre's core audience base than any other record to that point, but the band have been made to pay a heavy price for helping make hip-hop one /5(81).
  2. "Watch Out" by De La Soul sampled Cal Tjader's "Cubano Chant". Listen to both songs on WhoSampled, the ultimate database of sampled music, cover songs and remixes.

Watch Out was banging and the bass line was soothing with that Spanish vibe in a mix. Elizabeth "Yummy" Bingham did her job backgrounding vocals on two songs - Baby Phat and Special. I wonder what happened to her nowadays. That album still takes me back when I was in 11th grade and hip hop was slipping down in De La Soul for life/5(53).

Latifah's first single (back before she became Queen Latifah!). Released in the summer of around the same time as the first De La single, it still stands as one of the classics from Tommy Boy's glory days. Both tracks feature nice raw production by Mark The 45 King. inch, Vinyl record.
